Canvey Island Beach Essex

Canvey Island – Canvey Island is a civil parish and reclaimed island in the Thames estuary in Essex. Canvey Island beach is a popular sandy beach – perfect for a family trip to the coast. The beach has a fantastic view of the Kent Coast and you can even watch the ships go up and down the Thames. Canvey Island has much to offer including a small tidal pool which is popular for young children and families. Along the seafront you’ll find a range of beach shops, cafes, takeaways and parks.

Accessibility to the beach is limited with a few of uneven services. There is a car park close to the beach however, parking spaces are subject to availability, and we suggest arriving before peak hours. There are places to sit and perch along the promenade which are close to food outlets making this a perfect opportunity to grab an ice cream and watch the ships from a distance. There are no lifeguards who cover this area and dog restrictions may apply throughout the year.

Canvey Island Beach Review

If your in the area, cheap carparks, clean beachfront with walking sections on multi levels, lots of places to eat. Nice to watch the boats go by at the beginning of the Thames River.

We parked by the fairground and set off along the seafront. A lot of effort has been made to keep the seafront clean and tidy, which for the most part it was.
As expected there was nothing open, but the sea and beach was tidy enough to enjoy a stroll.
There were two paddling pools ( sea water ) which I imagine would be good fun for the kids in the summer.
Plenty of benches to stop and enjoy the views - but a few more coffee huts along the route would be a nice addition.
All in all a decent place to go for a walk.

Love walking or running along the sea wall. Beautiful views in the summer. Often clean. And when you walk the wall be sure to read the stories the wall paintings offer from local artists about Canvey history. Plenty of seating along the way. It's my go-to when I want me-time.
